with Blown Away Glass Studio

Since 1999, the husband and wife team, Katherine and Tim McManus of Elora have keep their glass blowing studio all fired up!

Their love affair with glass started when this duo were in college in the mid 1990’s and glassblowing became their obsession. Since that time, these two have played in high regard on the Canadian glass scene. In 2016, at the opening of the Dale Chihuly (the maestro of the glass scene in North America) glass exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum, Katherine and Tim were recognized as glass artists who “helped shape a generation of glass artists.”

These artisans continue to inspire, innovate, educate and mentor glass lovers both nationally and internationally. Their journey has been impressive. They have blown glass objects for movie set designs, been written up in art magazines around North America and their works are held in many private collections including the former Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery. It would not be an exaggeration to say their collection is now safely in the hands of many foreign dignitaries around the world as their objects d’arte have been given by the Canadian government to high ranking officials on many occasions as treasured gifts.

I won’t guarantee you will be cool when you visit their Hotshop, but it is a given that it will be thrilling and exciting to see them blow a piece of glass. With dual furnaces of over 2000 degrees, but every moment will be worth it.

Guaranteed you will simply be blown away!
