STUDIO 19

with Darlene Kulig

If you ever wanted to learn how to walk into a Canadian painting and experience the vibrancy and intensity of Canadian landscape, Darlene Kulig’s artwork is one to pick. After years as a successful graphic artist, Darlene has found her heart and soul in her art. Looking at her work, I found simplicity in its complexity. Big,bright, bold somewhat evocative of the Group of 7, although the artist herself more describes her work as a semi abstracted response to the “spirit” of the Canadian landscape. Lines are purposeful, methodical and the simple geometric shapes lovingly and carefully hold bold colour as this artist explores light, rhythm and joy of movement. Looks more like Matisse to me. Please enjoy meeting this Toronto artist! And, walk into the painting with me for a wash of warmth and delight. It does not disappoint.
